Tiny gem-like abstracts from Julie Sajous

Julie Sajous has brought together paint, collage, photographic imagery and a particular sense of colour to create a series of small scale paintings that, though essentially abstract in form manage to convey light and movement and to evoke memories and dreams of our Island. They are priced at just £70 each and their square format lends them to hanging in groups. These nine are currently to be seen at Yarmouth Gallery

Artist's Statement from Julie Sajous

“Originally trained as a Fashion Designer, my career has taken me through all aspects of art, from painting to ceramics, carnival costume design to illustration.

My paintings, mostly in acrylics, come from what I see around me in this gorgeous part of the world.

The Isle of Wight is surrounded by constantly changing seas and stunning, wildly varied landscape and this provides me with plenty of inspiration for my work.

I love colour and having been trained as a designer, really love to work with combinations which are perfectly balanced, whether calming or vibrant.”
